Because this author has a knack for giving me some of the most unique, quirky, unconventional characters and making me fall head over ovaries!
This book was magic. Flawlessly written, make you squirm uncomfortably and laugh out loud magic. Eve Dangerfield is a phenomenal author. She has this signature quirky and endearing quality to her writing that makes the story not only unique but fun. She writes completely unconventional characters that I really don't think any other author but her can pull off. And boy does she pull it off!
What made this book with this particular kink as good as it was, was the incredible characterization. Both Ty and Kate are multi-layered and so well developed, that you completely understand why they crave what they do.
Ty was one broody, sexy, dominant 45 year old with a sadistic side that you can't help but salivate over. And Kate is definitely salivating. She's been salivating after him since she met him on her first day on the job almost two years ago. And as long as she's been lusting after him, Ty has been coldly ignoring her.
Kate is endearingly quirky, with daddy issues of a different order and a bad case of ADHD. Now I ask you, how often do you read that? But don't think this 25 year old is some bubbly ball of fluff. She's all woman, even if she's lusting after a man twice her age. She's a woman that knows what she wants and goes after it. She also has some of the best internal dialogue ever.
Never mind that. Concentrate on befriending it.
This book was not mindless smut and kinky fuckery. Well, there WAS kinky fuckery and it was most certainly smutty. But it also had a well developed plot and well developed kinks.
Act Your Age is a book that will take you out of your comfort zone and make you enjoy every kinky second of it. It's a book that will put a goofy smile on your face and then make your ovaries burn with the fire of a million sexual fires. It was flawlesly written, completely unique, and totally unforgettable. And did I mention RIDICULOUSLY HOT?!

Kate is the girl next door on the outside but on the inside, she's a freak nasty! A good freak nasty! She also happens to work for a man who is twenty years older than her who she fantasies about on the daily.
Ty. . . let's just say he is the somber sort who hates everything and everyone – except Kate. He doesn't really know it yet or understand it for that matter. He loves being called daddy. Say daddy and he is all yours. Being called daddy from a woman who is young enough to be your daughter should be disturbing but he likes it anyway.
But there is way more to this story than just some bedroom kink, it is passionate and raw. It's heartbreaking at time and at other times funny as hell. That's where the true beauty in the story comes from. It goes way beyond taboo and tells the story of two broken individuals who may or may not find what they have been missing in each other.
Like every good girl, Kate still wants love and Ty has room for that kind of love or connection.

I think I fell in love with Kate after reading those words because for a sweet, quiet girl, she loved herself and I need a heroine like that to enjoy a story.
This book gave me LIFE!!! I ended this story feeling like I had just been introduced to my long lost freaky author. Me and Eve Dangerfield have just entered a new relationship and she needs to update her Facebook status to in a relationship with Pretty Mess Reading.

Ty, hmmmm let's just say I'm not keen on Blondes so he didn't do anything for me in that way. He is 45 depressing, grumpy, rude and an arrogant A-HOLE which is perfect for this story.
So this had all the promise of a great read, I really enjoyed the first 50% but the rest just fell short for me. I appreciate that it was written well and I look forward to reading more from this author. I also have to mention how much I prefered this form of D/d play as others I have read were just wrong. This was done as strictly role play only, they could switch it off whenever they wanted.

Going to be straight up honest, I enjoyed the hell out of this book. I love when a new author can capture my attention and get me to enjoy things I haven't before. Although I am not highly keen on the whole "call him daddy in bed" it was so easily overlooked for me. This was solely a love story of two people with quirks and both with huge hearts.Tyler Henderson is a 45 year old lead engineer that is living day to day after his dreams were snatched and he lost literally everything he ever wanted. He can't live his fantasies out, he can't have what he wants, so he settles for one nighters here and there. Until a new employee catches his attention yet he fights it for years. He's a man that everyone notices, he is extremely handsome, in tip top shape, and has a body every woman wants, no matter their age.
Kate McGrath, or as everyone calls her Middleton, Katie, Peach, or Princess, brings a new light into Ty's world. She's tired of fighting her attraction, she's tired of not getting what she wants. One drunken night starts a whole new chapter in her world. It's a crazy ride, it's a ride full of laughter, yet a ride with so many ups and downs, smiles and frowns, and lust and love that it sucks you in.
I throughly enjoyed reading about these two along this journey, I think the author does a wonderful job telling the story and an even better job bringing it together at the end. I would love, LOVE, LoVe to see more into their future!!!!❤️

Ok, so where to begin with this cover. It is a great cover. It has good composition and title work. The man on the cover looks to be about the age of the hero. BUT and this is a BIG but and also a major pet peeve of mine. The hero is a golden blonde in this book. That guy on the cover...NOT a golden blonde. Probably not a biggie for most readers, but I am a picky cover whore, and it drives me BONKERS when the cover models don't match the characters found within.

WOWZA...was this one good. It was SO close to being a 5 Star read for me. The only thing stopping it was I felt it was a little slow moving in places. That was just a very tiny issue in an otherwise fantastic read. If you follow my reviews on here, you know me and DADDY kink are #besties. I LOVE me a well written DD/lg book and this one may be one of the best I have ever read.
The writing was fantastic (no surprise Eve's writing always is). The pace, as I mentioned above, I had some small issues with. The plot was engaging and intelligent. It was fairly angsty, but there was no OW/OM drama. The sex scenes were SMOKIN' hot. Like fan yourself and get a change of panties hot. In fact, do yourself a favor and just leave your panties off when reading this. Save yourself some laundry. *lol* It had humor. It had feels (OMG the letter Kate wrote near the end had me bawling like a baby).
There was a nice collection of eclectic secondary characters, and both main characters were for the most part very likable. There were certain times I found myself frustrated with Tyler and not liking him a whole lot and times when I wanted to shake Kate and say "wake the f@ck up! You deserve better." But that is the magic of storytelling. Lastly, this was wrapped up in an OK ending. Personally "I" would have liked a bit more. That said, there may be a novella coming (hopefully), and I am sure we will see this couples HEA in that book. Not much left to say really, this one gets two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.

It is no secret that I am not a big fan of "Daddy" kink, it always makes me a bit uncomfortable. I think this might have to do with the fact, that me and my dad are best friends.
This story however, was very nicely done :) I really enjoyed reading it, which was mostly, because of the heroine. Kate was pretty awesome and funny. It also wasn't all about the sex and the kink.
Now don't get me wrong... it was plenty HOT and Ty was quite the dirty talker...and I do love me some dirty talk :P

He loathes the fact he's in a constant state of arousal when she's around but he craves the lust she inspires in him. Most importantly, he despises himself for wanting her to call him "Daddy" but damn, that'd be hot.
Despite the age difference, Kate can't seem to get Ty out of her head. Gorgeous, built and bossy as hell, Kate just knows that given the chance Ty could make all of her Daddy dreams come true. Now, how to get her panty soaking boss on board? Fate answers that question when Kate's mouth accidentally comes in direct contact with Ty's penis (hey, it happens!) and the two eventually begin to act out their kinky fantasies.
Sexually inexperienced as she might be, Kate was and always had been kinkier than a bag of zig-zags. It felt like she'd been born that way, craving things she didn't understand way before she reached sexual maturity. The dad in Taken had a particular set of skills, she had a particular set of fantasies. Unlike her, they weren't polite, they weren't nice, and they didn't leave when they were asked.
For those of you that see the words "Daddy" and "sex" in the same book synopsis and head for the hills, I feel your pain. Kink in my reading has always been something I welcome but the Daddy stuff? No. Just…NO. Given that info, naturally I was a little hesitant going into Act Your Age but I figured I'd wade in carefully and give it a shot.
I'm so freaking glad I did!
Not only is the "Daddy" stuff done in a way that's not at all creepy or gross, but it starts to set the stage for a pretty amazing romance. Ty and Kate both know their relationship isn't made to go the distance but that doesn't seem to stop either from wishing it could. Ty's not in the market for a relationship, especially not from a twenty five year old beauty looking to make their arrangement permanent. He just doesn't have it in him anymore.
Wanting to fuck his pretty employee was biology, wanting to cherish her was something else. Something much worse.
As much as I loved sexy Ty in this story, Kate made the book for me. Based on her introduction I was expecting a weak, pliant girl ready to do anything to please her man, no questions asked. That's true to a certain extent, but out of the bedroom Kate's quite a bit more complex than that and soon Ty finds it more and more difficult to compartmentalize her place in his life. I adored how uncomfortable she made Ty and how, eventually, he took her lead and started growing as a character. The fact that she stands up for herself when she needs to only managed to prove to me that any "Daddy" stuff happening was going to be on her terms as well as Tyler's.
If you've never had the pleasure of reading an Eve Dangerfield book, now's the time to start. Don't let the "Daddy" label fool you; Act Your Age is a sexually charged story about two people finally giving into their kink and finding their happiness. I loved it all.

Act Your Age was like a breath of fresh air. Its 'taboo' pages were full to bursting with intelligent, thoughtful writing that has earned Eve Dangerfield a brand new, die-hard fan - yours truly.
Two years ago Tyler's fiancee left him, and then he was forced to retire from his dream job. Today he's a borderline alcoholic who's convinced himself he's a washed-up, 45-year-old, sadistic pervert. Lusting after the sweet and beautiful Kate, his 25-year-old employee at his new job, just proves his point.
Both Tyler and Kate's characters were so well-developed. Their distinct 'voices' really underscored the quality of the writing, with Tyler's resigned and jaded attitude contrasting sharply with Kate's hopeful emotions that lived so close to the surface. Tyler's attempts to smother their attraction, to do the 'right' thing, felt just as authentic as Kate's attempts to fan the flames between them. This was truly some great story telling.
But what impressed me even more was Ms. Dangerfield's take on the complexities of human sexuality. First, she adds a new layer of depth to the over-used S&M trope with thoughts such as these:
Though she clearly wasn't totally comfortable with her desires, her profile didn't hint at any of the shame he'd carried around since puberty. Maybe it was easier for masochists, Ty thought. Wanting pain and humiliation couldn't be fun but wanting to cause harm was downright fucking terrifying. It made you turn yourself inside out, looking for evidence that you were a scumbag, a sinner, a murderer-in-waiting.Then, secondly, she shines a light into a dark corner of kink by tackling DD/lg, and the difficulties of fulfilling one's sexuality in a world where many equate it with abuse of power or worse:
He'd lived in fear of those words 'pedophilia' and 'incest,' convinced they applied to him even though they made him feel sick.Ms. Dangerfield didn't shy away from anything.
But at the end of the day, this was a romance novel, a love story about two desperately lonely people who find each other at the kinky end of the swimming pool of life. I loved every thought-provoking word of it!

Having a workplace affair can get them in serious trouble so the motivation to give Middleton a wide berth is solid.

Kate on the other hand has had a crush on Ty from day 1. She knows he doesn't like her but that doesn't diminish the pull. Her attempts at seducing Ty are cute and a little bit clumsy and while I laughed at her efforts I also cheered her on. And when she finally succeeds we get a really deep look into the characters' minds.
Kate and Ty are multilayered and complex characters. Both of them have a difficult past that shaped them into who they are today. Ty's inability to open himself up to being happy and maybe losing, his guilt because of his sexual preferences, his struggles with the age difference. When Kate gives him what he craves for the first time in his life it's the first time he doesn't have to pretend he is somebody else.

He can be sweet and caring, although his attempts are a bit awkward in the beginning. He smothers his growing feelings but we know how well that works...I wanted to kick his butt a couple of times, Ty isn't an easy hero to get along with but when he finally lets his guard down he is beautiful, charming, absolutely enchanting.
A girl showed up at my work; the prettiest thing I've ever seen. She's so sweet it hurts your teeth, and I hate her for it because I've lost my taste for sweet.
Kate was a revelation. What a wonderful heroine. Her growth from the beginning as an awkward, shy girl to the end when she has grown into herself, a lovely, smart and confident woman with a strong will to boot, is amazing. Her childhood and teenage years were far from great and she needed what every emotionally abused child would do - she adapted. So the girl we see in the beginning is a far cry from the woman she lets herself be in the end. She stays true to her quirky self but with so much more self-confidence.
We're the perfect kind of wrong for each other, sweetheart.
This story isn't just kinky smut - I get that a grown up calling a man Daddy is kind of weird to "normal" people, whatever that is - but Eve Dangerfield gives us insight into the minds of people who are attracted to this life style. It isn't like you can flip on a switch and say "Today I like Daddy-kink." As it is with all nonconformist ideas, accepting this life style, living and embracing it, comes with a great deal of responsibility. If you exploit it, people will always see you as a pervert.
I think Eve did a fantastic job opening my mind to things that might make me uncomfortable but let me still enjoy the story as a whole. Did I think the sex scenes were hot? Yes, some of them were scorching, others I wanted to skip because they made me squirm but I didn't because I really wanted to understand. Will I read other Daddy-kink books? Maybe from trusted authors and definitely from Eve Dangerfield.
I also need to mention the humor in this book. This author's way with words never lets the story slip off into a depressing super-angsty read. Yes, there is some angst but it is the perfect dose. I laughed out loud multiple times. I loved her crew of friends, especially Rapunzel, who took Kate under her wing. There is a little twist almost at the end of the story that I totally didn't see coming.
If you're still on the fence please give this a try and read it with an open mind. This story isn't just about the kink, it's got all kinds of sweetness, humor and charm.

It has everything in it that human life encompasses from one's needs, one's disappointments, one's secrets, the need to connect and the fear of sticking yourself out there for fear you'll be rejected or, even worse, judged.That being said, I've got to get one thing out the way first:

Eve Dangerfield has written a gift. That's right, I'm not going to call it a book. I see this as a gift put out there to be thoroughly enjoyed and to live through each moment. Actually, she didn't just give moments, she gave an entire world! This book may be about a romance between two seemingly opposing people - a 45 year old, jilted, ex-firefighter and and 25 year old engineer who still wears head bands, knee high socks and Mary Janes all whilst making baked goods and being the good girl whose the epitome of sweet, as sweet as the stuff she bakes. But in reality, these two run so many parallels that it's crazy not to spot how similar they are.
Yes, this book is a romance and yes, it definitely centers around Dd/lg - Daddy kink, role-play and kink in general, but it's so much more than that. Even if you don't get off on that dynamic, it's hard not to fall in love with this book because for me it had more to do with sexuality in all it's broad spectrum. And I don't think I'm wrong in that with other characters like Rapunzel and Maria as part of this incredibly unique, quirky and diverse world that Dangerfield wrote. Like I said, yes, these two are into dd/lg but the author took it so much further. She tackled what it meant to grow up with questions about one's innate nature, loneliness in having to hide it, lack of connection from not finding someone who you could share your true self with and the shame and questioning about if you're sick or weird because that's the way you were formed. They might've been born in different decades but as the author goes back through their history both Tyler and Katie have both struggled and tried to find different ways to search for what it is they need, usually with failure and mostly having to hide it. And I loved that about this book. Yes, it's hot and steamy but it goes deeper (even with all that lovely steam) and gave me a world to invest in and a couple that I think I would've pulled my hair out if they hadn't found a way to each other to finally make it work. The book opens your mind, not allowing you to judge and judge we shouldn't. Everyone's sexuality is uniquely tailored and extremely personal and what goes on in someone else's bedroom is not ours to pick apart. Not if it is two consenting adults who fulfill each other's needs and find that rarest of rare commodities - true human connection and a place to be oneself without judgement or censorship.
This isn't the first book I've read by this author but it is by far my favorite. She doesn't just introduce you to brooding Mr. Henderson, who's been hooked on Katie since the first day she stepped in the office and made it a point to keep her as far away as possible or Katie, who hides behind her demure costume facade while pining for Tyler from the minute she meets him. She introduces you to a world full of wonderful, colourful characters - to roller derby and and amazonian lesbians like Rapunzel and Dominants likes Maria, hell to the whole roller derby team. She opens the door to misogyny and 'good ol' boy' ways of office politics and what it is to walk the line between being sexualised by your coworkers because you're a female and what it is to try and walk that fine line in between of putting up with it and fighting to find a way around and above it.
There is so much to this book. I know I said that already but it was just so damn rich. Starting from the first chance encounter that sets it off at a work getaway where Katie finally accidentally ends up in Tyler's bed leading to two people realising they were attracted to each other for a reason and finally finding someone else who seamlessly fits their sexual expressions. To grappling with age gaps and one's fear of getting older and of societal norms and the labels others so easily attach. To a young woman finally coming out of hiding and slowly empowering herself while an older man finally manages to redefine himself and put himself back out there into life.
This is a colourful, beautiful place, full of vibrant people and personalities, humour, vulnerability, incredibly hot sexual role-play (did I say incredibly hot? Ok, good) and an absolutely delicious combination of two people that makes for the most fulfilling romance.
If you haven't read this one yet, you're probably missing out. For me, this was nirvana and I'm so damn glad I got to live in this world for awhile. I would've even liked to see more of Tyler and Katie at the end. But you know what? That's alright, because they're going to do just fine together.
So here's to being your true self, forgiving yourself for your sense of self- expression and being brave enough to put yourself out there, even if you take a few hits, and in doing so being lucky enough to find the thing that makes you happy and the pieces that make you complete.

This book features two interesting characters and we get both POV.
Tyler Henderson.
I wasn't initially sure how I was going to get on with Ty, he's forty-five years old and after being cheated on and dumped by his fiancé (who's now married and pregnant) he's in a rut. He drinks far too much and appears to have his own personal dark cloud following him around. My problem was I need to like both the characters for a romance to work and Ty just seemed too down and fed up for me but as it turned out I didn't need to worry, others didn't see him that way.
It turns out he's attractive, charismatic, intelligent and generally well liked with a dry sense of humour.
For a moment she stared at him in confusion, then the reality of what he was saying seemed to hit her right between the eyes.
"You're an asshole!"
"I know."
"You don't know it enough."
I had to include this line somewhere just because I liked it so much.
It was true, he had women crying outside his dorm so often the spot became known as 'the fountain,' but he didn't care.
Kate 'Middleton' McGrath.
Kate is twenty-five years old (but looks younger) she's sweet and cute, always happy and baking for the guys at work. She's the youngest and only female engineer at GGS and she wants a daddy. More than that she wants Tyler to be her daddy but he seems to avoid her whenever possible so he's not an option plus they work together but a girl can dream.
Ty has been attracted to Middleton since the first time they met he also recognised a need in her but he hides his attraction well, even from himself.
Ty didn't think Middleton was a great girl. He thought Middleton was a pain in the ass. Waltzing around with her shiny hair and long legs and her throaty voice, being cuter than a fistful of buttons. Where did she get off?
This book contains so much and still when it ended I wanted more, it's an emotional read with a lot of ups and downs, a lot of personal growth and development.
We grow to love and understand both these characters. There's also a unique bunch of strong secondary characters.
I've read several daddy/daughter books and I can say that without a doubt their first real scene is the best I've ever read.
My only issue (yes I know there's always something) is the cover and yes I'm aware I'm being picky but Ty is blonde, very blonde to the point of being described as Aryan so having a dark haired guy on the cover just seemed wrong.
Anyone familiar with my reviews knows how rarely it is for me to give 5* for those not familiar, if I'm lucky it's 2 or 3 from every hundred or so books I read (I used to be more generous so don't hold my older ratings against me).
I did debate over my rating because while I was glued to every page I don't think it's a book I'll re-read but its good, really good so 5* it is and I can almost hear Eve thinking "at last" because yes I am hard to please.

Because... kinky, I can absolutely do... but, the Daddy kink... it's simply not for me. I typically find reading this trope a bit cringy and uncomfortable for me.
Then, I got an email from Ms. Eve Dangerfield asking if I'd be interested in reading/reviewing an ARC of her new book. Yep, the "not my jam" one titled Act Your Age.
First and foremost, I was honored that she wanted to share her hard work with me in exchange for my opinion. But, I wasn't sure I was the right person to review her book. And, I make it a policy NOT to accept ARCs if I feel I won't be able to objectively review the work.
Honestly, I almost replied with a polite "thanks, but no thanks" type of response. But, right before I hit send on that reply, I decided to give the book and some trusted friend's reviews one last look-see. The stellar reviews and love this book was garnering had me re-thinking my initial dismissal. So, I deleted that polite decline I was about to send Ms. Dangerfield and instead decided to jump in with both feet and just go for it.
Damn, I'm so glad I did. This book was a treat to read. Ms. Dangerfield clearly did her research when writing this book. She executed these characters, this particular kink, and the 20 year age gap between the MCs absolutely fantastically. When I thought I was getting into an erotic kinky read, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself wholly invested in these character's emotions, quirks, and insecurities. This book wasn't just about the kinky stuff (though there was plenty of spicy smut)... this story has true depth.
I really enjoyed how the MCs were able to consider the D/d kink as strictly role-play. They turned it off and on when they wanted/needed to. It made this plot device a bit more palatable. The first 50% of this book had me captivated. I was intrigued by the unique relationship between these two. For a brief time after the midway point, the storyline fell a bit flat for me. But, it quickly picked back up and had me wholeheartedly rooting for these characters to figure out how to make their relationship work.
I loved the colorful side characters. The Barbie Trolls really had me considering lacing up some rollerskates and taking a roll around the neighborhood.
But, then I thought better of it.
Overall, I'd say this book was a fantastic, unexpected surprise. I'm super glad I agreed to read this ARC and am so excited to read more books from this author. If you cool with the Daddy kink... or if, like me, it's typically not really your jam but are looking for a read that'll help you step beyond the boundaries of your comfort zone... I'd say give this one a shot. With the phenomenal writing of Dangerfield, you're absolutely in good hands.

The one good thing going for him is Kate McGrath, who everyone calls Middleton. But even his crush on her is a reluctant one, not only because she's under his employ, but also because she's twenty years younger than his forty-five years. But when the opportunity of a lifetime lands Kate in his bed, and he finds out that they share the same kinky tastes, who is he to refuse to take this perfect woman for him?

I love Kate so, SO much. She's such a unique heroine – she's tiny and adorable and quirky. She has ADHD, which has caused a lot of hurt in her past, but she doesn't let that define her. She tries her hardest at her male-dominated workplace, and she tries to be social by joining a roller derby team. I have so much love and admiration for this girl!
Of the two of them, Kate is the one who is fearless in wanting to go all in with Ty. She doesn't let her daddy kink shame her or hold her back. The chemistry between Kate and Ty is off-the-charts hot – these are two characters who want each other badly. But the emotional connection they share is what made this story.
"Do you think we're weird?" Kate asked, because that was the thing she'd always been afraid to ask.
Ty pulled her into his arms. "We're weird in the best possible way."
"So… yes?"
He laughed. "Everyone's weird Kate, we're the perfect kind of weird for each other."
Act Your Age has everything that I love in a romance – an older hero, a sexy kink, a lovable heroine, and angst. Eve Dangerfield brought out all the emotions in this book, and I couldn't get enough of it. It's a beautiful, heart-wrenching, hilarious, sexy as hell story that I highly recommend!

Plain and simple: Kate McGrath wants her book Tyler Henderson. Everything about him is damn near perfect except his age. The twenty years age gap between them and the fact that he's her boss are two big problems keeping them apart. But then maybe what they could have together would be worth it.-----------------------------------------
Honest to God: I tried really hard to like this book but I simply didn't work. The storyline is good and the characters are also good but the kinky side of the book is so not my style. Their daddy play is really not my thing and the fact that the majority of the book is about sex scenes playing that exact game did not help my relationship with this book. I understand that they enjoy the fantasy, what I can't understand is the fact that they pretty much only live in the fantasy. Probably 70% of the book is just them in bed. There's no chit-chat between them, no lovey-dovey moments or any other stuff that a normal couple shares besides sex because, outside of her house, they have to pretend they're nothing more than coworkers.
Then, the writing style is also not my favorite. There's too much description and the actual dialogue is most of the time about things that don't really matter to the story.
Now, the fact that I didn't like this book does not mean it is a bad book. If you like a light BDSM romance or if you enjoy the daddy play, this is definitely a book for you.

Well, it was a long time that I had read a Daddy story maybe months or maybe the last one was last year but I had in my mind not reading another of them (Thanks to that last one) until I received this one! The title intrigued me!
Okay, about the story! Ty is forty-five and Kate is Twenty-five-year-old. Yes, it's a huge age gap but it wasn't so palpable for me. They work in an engineering company; Ty is Kate's boss. After Ty saw her making out in a public bar and saved her from being violated, the next morning Kate had a good way to appreciate him without knowing about the last night and her savior! But when her brain began to work and saw who he is, you think the next day at work was an awkward one? Nope, you're so wrong! Haha! And it was interesting! I thought she is a shy one but she is so persistent and what she wants, she gets!
My only problem with this story was some of the scenes (I wasn't in the right mood for them). But regardless of that, it was well-written and well-paced and hot. Both characters were likable even that grumpy Ty! It was my first read by this author and I think I'll read more of her books in the future! The story is told in dual POV, 3rd person. it's a stand-alone novel. All in all, I enjoyed it and I hope you like it too!

This is the sort of book where you are reading it and really want to skip ahead to see what happens, but then sort of don't want to at the same time as you want it to last.
Loved the heroine, she was quirky, and funny and I adored her friends in the Roller Derby group once we got to know them a bit more, especially Rapunzel. (also, am now very upset I am too unfit and decrepit to play Roller Derby!!) And the hero, not your typical hero, yes he is hot, but he is gruff, and drinking too much, and sleeping in his office.
Anyway, I have (many many many many times) expressed my love for this author and how she writes her characters.
And this is no different. Despite their kinks or not, they are so very real, raw and relatable.
They are characters, with hang ups, issues, fears, and you can so believe that somewhere in the world these people exist.

Now, talking about sexy books with a wee bit of kink in them is somewhat embarrassing for me. I'm going to have to ask you to step into my Kinky Cone of Silence… If kinky reads are not for you, stop, step away, and I'll see you on the flipside.
I started the story a little hesitantly. How does 'Daddy' play start? Is this something that happens at a sex club? Do you advertise? The thing that had me gobsmacked was that at first I was like…*Wow, that is HOT!!* Mind you, it was just her using the word and him being a little bit bossy. I thought I could hack it if this is what it's all about. Boy, was I naïve. Like, really, really naïve. Very quickly I went from HOT to Ewww. Nope, this is definitely not my thing. Hmmm, maybe I ain't so tough after all.
Funny thing is, the writing was fabulous and I couldn't stop. I was curious and I couldn't look away. I started and finished this book in one day. Hubby would come in for something and I would tell him a little bit about what I was reading and his face would go really blank. I'd seen this face before. This face means…My wife is weird, but I love her, so I guess whatever floats her boat…and as long as she doesn't start calling me Daddy.
What I found amazing about this story was analysing how these characters came to be and what made them feel the need for this sexual outlet. Both the hero and heroine felt years of embarrassment and shame for having the type of sexual fantasies they craved. The amount of inner conflict they suffered through, talking themselves out of wanting what they wanted and settling for something less, made me feel sorry for them. It takes strength and courage to be different and finding someone who wants that same kind of different is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Obviously, Act Your Age is not a book for everyone. Reading this book blasted me past my comfort zone and into the red light district. What made this journey amazing is that even when I was uncomfortable with how the role playing played out, I never felt the need to stop reading. It was fascinating and a little disturbed. The phrase "Whatever floats your boat" was playing on repeat in my head.
This is a love story, that's just a little different. Age doesn't matter, when you're both comfortable with it. We're all different but if you can find the person to accept and love your differences, you're very lucky. Each to their own and all that jazz.

Kate is a different and quirky woman but there is reason for it because of her ADHD but she tries so hard to not let it define her. She's had a rough childhood with indifferent parents who didn't show her love and attention and being an outcast because of her ADHD disorder.
Tyler is a handsome, sweet and caring man who's also experienced loss and negativity. Like Kate he also found out he had different sexual desires in his youth and struggled with it.
Together these two was so much fun. They brought heat and shared an emotional connection when they came together. Especially their emotional growth is beautifully depicted. Whereas Kate used to be a loner and shy she came out of her shell and gained friends. Tyler struggled with his self worth and couldn't accept that a gorgeous young woman was attracted and in love with him. He could finally accept his own and Kate's feelings and prove his worth.
Act Your Age is a well developed and sexy story about change and acceptance. Eve Dangerfield has taken a topic and put her own spin on it. She created layered and flawed characters who goes through a beautiful self discovery. Act Your Age was my introduction to Eve Dangerfield and I'm excited to explore her work further.

They finally get on board with the 'skinship' only to scratch each others back. No love at all. Well, it was really WILD and HOT. A taboo fantasy between Katie and Tyler as step-daughter and step-father. What's not to enjoy? Each scenes really turns me on for good. Their Daddy/lg kink is mostly about punishment. Light spanking, teasing, a bit humiliation and dirty talks. Totally safe and satisfying!

In the later, Tyler confessed his sins to Kate and realize that he stuck in the past with his ex. Tyler is too afraid to feel their chemistry. Well, it was forgivable but I want more groveling because he deserved it! In my dictionary, Kate easily forgive because she's couldn't forget him.
The story was well-written and managed to grab my attention until the end. I didn't even realize with the page length! Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the HFN ending and demands for more their perv act in the future. Wohooo~
